TUHF GROUP OF COMPANIES PRIVACY NOTICE

 

This Notice is an assurance to you that TUHF is concerned about how your Personal Information is collected, processed, stored, transferred, and destroyed. TUHF secures your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Please note that this Notice applies to the TUHF Group of Companies, TUHF subsidiaries and special purpose vehicles (SPVs). For a full list of applicable companies see Annexure A.

What is Personal Information ?

Personal Information is any information that personally identifies you, this information may include but is not limited to your name, race, gender, pregnancy, marital status, mailing address, phone number, email address, education, employment history, and their financial history (such as their credit history).

What is Special Personal Information ?

Special Personal Information is any information relating to your religious or philosophical beliefs, race or ethnic origin, trade union membership, political opinions, health, sexual life, biometric information or criminal behaviour.

How does TUHF Protect Your Personal/Special Personal Information ?

TUHF assures you that it has put stringent IT security measures and access controls in place to protect your Personal Information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. TUHF further assures you that it will not use or share your Personal/Special Personal Information with any service providers, or third parties outside of the limitation to which you have consented.

TUHF collects personally identifiable information, such as your ID number, e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number through its loan application forms. There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by TUHF. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by TUHF for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the TUHF website.

Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose Personal Information or personally sensitive data through TUHF public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others. Please note: TUHF does not read any of your private online communications. TUHF is not responsible for the privacy notices or other content on websites outside of the TUHF website.

Use of Your Personal Information:

TUHF does not sell, rent or lease its client lists to third parties. TUHF may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, TUHF may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail. All such third parties are prohibited from using your Personal Information except to provide these services to TUHF, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. TUHF does not use or disclose sensitive Personal Information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.

TUHF keeps track of the websites and pages our customers visit within TUHF, in order to improve the quality of our services. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within TUHF to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area. TUHF Web sites will disclose your Personal Information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

(a) comply with legal process served on TUHF or the website;

(b) protect and defend the rights or property of TUHF; and

(c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of TUHF, or the public.

Use of Cookies:

The TUHF website use “Cookies” to help you personalise your online experience. A Cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a webpage server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the Cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of Cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. You can accept or decline Cookies. If you choose to decline Cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the TUHF services or websites you visit. 

What are Your Legal Rights ?

You have the right to:

  • Access your Information;
  • Update your information;
  • Restrict the processing or sharing of your information;
  • Object to the use of your data, including the use of your personal data for direct marketing;
  • Withdraw consent and
  • To lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

TUHF encourages you to review the Privacy Statements/Notices of websites you choose to link to from TUHF so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your Personal Information. All comments, questions, concerns or complaints regarding your Personal Information should be forwarded to the TUHF Information Officer or Deputy Information Officer as per Annexure A, by emailing: privacy@tuhf.co.za
