View Our Education Vidoes

The TUHF Programme for Property Entrepreneurship (TPPE) is a comprehensive property training programme designed to empower property entrepreneurs to succeed. TPPE is open to TUHF’s clients, as well as non-clients interested in property and how to run a property business.

Delivered through the University of Cape Town (UCT), one of Africa’s leading teaching and learning institution, the course is customised for TUHF clients and non-clients that are interested in a career in property. It focuses on sharpening property development and management skills and developing students’ knowledge of the affordable rental housing industry.

“One of my favourite things about presenting the TPPE is watching the exchange of ideas between fellow students,” says Henry. “Whether the student is already active in the property market, or just starting out, our students always come away from the TPPE feeling inspired and empowered to run their businesses successfully.”
The partnership between TUHF and UCT ensures that TPPE students are provided with a premier property education programme and receive certification for their studies

PROJECT CASE STUDY

TPPE culminates in a practical case study, in which students are tasked to apply the theoretical principles learned on the course to a real property development case study in and around Johannesburg CBD. The building selected meets TUHF’s investment criteria, allowing students to practice what they have learned on a potential urban regeneration project. The programme participants are divided into syndicates for the final project and present their project to a panel of judges, chaired by Professor Francois Viruly, for assessment.

“This hands-on project is always an eye-opener for our students,” Henry says. “Not only do they get to see the potential in urban regeneration projects first-hand, but they learn how to present to a group of people. Because the TPPE is designed to add value to students of any level of education – from those without a matric right through to those with degrees in other areas – this final presentation is always a highlight of the programme. It really demonstrates how our students grow through the TPPE, and ensures they walk away from the experience with both knowledge and new skills.”

PROGRAMME LOGISTICS

TPPE is a twelve-day course, spread over three months. Students are required to dedicate four days in each month to attending training sessions, either online or in person, from 9am to 1pm. During the sessions students will enjoy interactive presentations and quality training which provides them with new perspectives of the property industry. Through these engagements they gain a better understanding and appreciation of the roles and responsibilities of the various property disciplines.

The 2022 TPPE is currently intended to be presented online, while the project case study will require in-person site visits. Please note that attendance to all the programme sessions is compulsory.
